FOCUS & FELINES / HELP
Make yourself
comfortable.
A few answers to help you settle in, and what to include when something needs a closer look.
Getting started
Where can I download the app?
Focus & Felines is in development and is not yet publicly available on the App Store. This site will link to the release when it is available.
What are fish used for?
Fish are an in-app reward used for the home and its decorations. The current app does not sell fish for real money. They have no cash value.
Can I decorate without starting a timer?
Yes. Spend time with your cats and arrange your home without starting a focus session. Focus is an optional activity.
How do I move decorations?
In House, tap Decorate in the bar along the bottom. Hold an item to lift it and drag it where you like, or tap it for Move and Put away. Available positions depend on the item and room. If an item will not move, include the item and room names in your report.
How do I share my progress?
Tap Share at the top of Stats. Choose a background, colors and cats, then swipe the card to pick which stats it shows. The card is made on your iPhone and goes only where you send it.
Focus & permissions
Does reaching my goal end focus?
No. The timer is an optional fish-bonus goal. Reaching it awards the goal bonus once, and your focus session keeps going until you end it. You can focus without setting a goal.
Why does the app ask for Screen Time access?
Optional app shielding uses Apple’s Screen Time features to limit the apps you choose during focus. You select them with Apple’s picker. The app keeps opaque selection tokens locally; it does not upload your selection to a developer server.
If shielding is unavailable, check the app’s permission status in iOS Settings. Availability depends on the device, OS, and the permissions Apple grants. Do not rely on shielding for emergency or safety needs.
Can I block websites too?
Yes. Apple’s picker in Blocked Apps also lists websites and categories. The app receives opaque tokens from Apple, not the names of what you choose.
Why didn’t a notification or Live Activity appear?
Check notification and Live Activity permissions in iOS Settings. Focus modes, notification settings, and device support can affect what appears. The app uses local notifications and Apple’s system display features. Daily reminders, keepsake nudges and stretch breaks are each switched on separately in the app’s Settings.
Does the room weather use my location?
No. The weather is decorative. The app does not request location access.
How does an NFC tag work?
On a compatible device, an optional writable NDEF tag can be paired for focus controls. Pairing writes an app identifier to the tag. Use a tag you own and can safely write to; other compatible readers may read its contents. If scanning fails, try one tag at a time and check that it supports NDEF and is writable.
Saves & data
Will my cats transfer to another device?
Yes, with a backup file. In the app, open Settings → Backup and export a backup to Files or iCloud Drive. On the new iPhone, open Settings → Backup and restore that file. Restoring replaces the save on that device. Screen Time selections and NFC pairing stay on the original device, so set those up again.
The app has no cloud sync or account. Apple’s device backups may also include app data depending on your settings, but recovery that way is not guaranteed.
If progress is missing, avoid deleting or reinstalling the app while troubleshooting.
How do I remove app data?
Use iOS Settings to delete the app and its local app data. Offloading is different: it keeps documents and data. Backup copies and data kept by Apple are managed through your Apple settings. There is no developer-operated cloud copy of your game save to delete.
See the privacy choices section for more detail about permissions and support messages.
